Lots! As a multi-period group we regularly demonstrate at events from the 11th-Century Norman Conquest through to the late-Georgian and early-Victorian period.
Our members have the kit and expertise to cover Iron Age Romans and Celts, Anglo-Saxons and Normans, High-Medieval Knights and Crusaders, Late-Medieval Wars of the Roses (with a special emphasis on the Tudor Household of to-be-Henry VII), Early Modern and Renaissance German Landsknecht, and Napoleonic-era military - both British and French!

We are an established group with plenty of equipment that enables us to provide a welcoming living history camp. As a multi-generational group we are able to display all of the hustle-and-bustle of historic life - with cooking, crafts, and caring for little ones!
Our members have wide-ranging skills including fibre-crafts (such as weaving, braiding, spinning, and sewing), metalworking (such as casting), woodworking (including lathe-turning), and cooking… yes, on real fires!
We also have excellent knowledge of historic armoury, and are more than happy for visitors to try on our chainmail and helmets, and even handle authentic (but safe!) weapons.
Many of our group are professional educators and performers, and we pride ourselves on being able to communicate our skills and knowledge in an open, friendly, and accessible way.

Free Company have been reenacting at shows across Europe since the 1980s and have even organised our own for special occasions. Our members include professional events and heritage workers who know how historic and public venues work, and we bring this behind-the-scenes knowledge and understanding to everything that we do.

Absolutely! We love working with individuals, groups, and communities to make their event special. Previous special events have included Arthurian Legends and Robin Hood - so we’re even happy to take a very broad definition of authentic!
-
Definitely! We have been involved in a number of productions, both for factual television and period dramas. Please do get in touch with what you’re looking for, and we’d be happy to discuss more.
